GUARDIAN PROGRAM

LABRADOODLES OF MONTANA

At Labradoodles of Montana, participating in our Guardian Home program presents a unique opportunity for the ideal family. It allows you to welcome a premium quality dog into your home as a family pet without bearing the full financial burden.

We hold a firm belief that every dog should have a forever home where they are loved and considered part of the family. Through our Guardian Home program, we are able to continue breeding these wonderful dogs while ensuring they live the life they deserve. Although we maintain breeding rights, the guardian family is responsible for providing the necessary care, love, and attention. It's important for potential guardian families to seriously consider their ability to dedicate time to training, socializing, and caring for the puppy, as this is a shared commitment.

How to qualify as a Guardian Home:

In order to ensure the safety and health of the guardian home dog there are certain requirements to qualify for our Guardian Home Program. You must:

  • Own your home

  • Have a fully fenced yard

  • Ensure that your puppy is well socialized

  • Provide veterinary care when needed (any reproductive vet care is our expense)

  • Must not own any intact dogs for the entire duration of the guardian contract

  • Provide regular grooming is a MUST!

  • Provide high quality dog food

  • Live within an approximate 2 hour distance from Labradoodles of Montana (Helena, MT)

  • Provide a safe secure environment

Guardians are expected to treat these dogs as beloved family members, ensuring they receive proper vaccinations, grooming, socialization, training, and nutrition.

Puppies are born and cared for at Labradoodles of Montana until they are weaned from their mother. Our breeding dogs typically retire by the age of five and females do not breed before their second estrous cycle, around 1.5 years of age. Female dogs live with their guardian families even during pregnancy and return to us for breeding and to nurse their puppies for about 8 weeks. After fulfilling their breeding contract, usually after producing 3 litters, females are spayed at our expense and officially retire to their guardian homes. Males are typically retired at the age of 5 years of age and neutered at our expense and officially retire to their guardian homes.

Guardians receive compensation for each litter of 3 or more live-born puppies as a token of appreciation for their devoted care and affection towards the dog. Payment is disbursed when all the puppies are sold, and the dog is returned to the Guardian.
